President's Message
Happy Summer to all OSTC Club members!
Our Wekiva Island Membership Drive Picnic was a success, over 110 members and potential members attended despite the summer heat and parking/entry challenges! I received extremely nice feedback the following day from a member who’s been taking multiple ski trips with us each year since 2014. He considers himself not the most social person, but our events throughout the year and our trips make him feel very comfortable and welcome, so much so that he and his wife invited 4 of their neighbors to the membership event and they are now working on getting a total of 6 of their close friends signed up this year as first-time trip participants with our club! Our club board’s goal in growing this club is being well received by our members, therefore I find it both exciting and very rewarding to read this positive feedback and watch so many of our long-time members hit it off with brand new attendees interested in joining our wonderful travel club! Thank you to all our volunteer members who helped at the Wekiva membership event as it truly was a team effort and a huge success!
Thank you, Cyndy Valence, our VP of Trips, for all your hard work and the extensive personal hours you continue to donate to both our club and members. I’m very aware it took a lot of careful planning and coordination with our trip vendors, webmaster David Pugh and our team of wonderful volunteer trip leaders to be able to pull off such a successful and timely launch of our upcoming ski trips! Ski Trip signups for our Dec 2024 – March 2025 Ski Season are now open on the club’s website. 4 of our 6 different Ski destinations for next year sold out in just hours! The excitement level with our Orlando Club’s trips and activities are through the roof right now so don’t delay in signing up for one of our trips going to top ranked ski destinations! Many of our members sign up for multiple Ski trips traveling between Dec 2024 – March 2025, so if you’re able to, be sure to get yourself signed up on at least one. Due to the high demand experienced on our anticipated trip signup launch day, we were able to ask for more lodging and almost double the # of participants for Snowmass to more than 80! That’s a Record High for us going on one trip, at least since the 1980’s or 90’s.
Only 4 Spaces remain on the Argentina Bucket List Trip (Patagonia region) along with a few other friendly Florida Clubs (FSC). We will not be skiing on this trip, instead we will be viewing Giant Glaciers, Penguins, Whales, Estancias, drinking Malbec wine, and attending a professional Tango Show in Buenos Aires. We begin the trip staying in a 5-star hotel in Iguazu Falls National Park on the border of Brazil which ranks 9 among the world’s top wonders! The trip will take place this October 2024 (during their beautiful Spring). I know of a long list of you that have been inquiring with me and are considering participating in this trip with us, time to Jump off that fence and sign up before it’s too late!
Orlando Ski and Travel Club - Argentina-Patagonia 2024
Lake Louisa Cabin Party Weekend IV in Clermont, Florida (will be held Sept 13-15th, 2024) This event has evolved into a weekend of amazingly themed dance parties and costumes competing for prizes, pub crawl style participation dinner, a little hiking, biking, kayaking, all over a super relaxed social weekend with 60 fellow club members! All for a Super-low cost of $98/pp that covers nice well-appointed Air-Conditioned lodging with full kitchens and a Club T-shirt.
Orlando Ski and Travel Club - Lake Louisa Cabin Party Weekend 2024
24 fellow OSTC World Travelers came together on a River Cruise, where we covered 6 countries in Europe (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, and Belgium) all over 3 beautifully weathered weeks in May. Just a few of the highlights were Castles, Beer Spa Bathing, Heineken tour, Amsterdam Canal Tour, World War field tour with Bunkers, Van Gogh Museum, a true German Maytoberfest celebration among 2,000 Germans wearing Lederhosen, partying, and singing at a Level 10! ARGENTINA - PATAGONIA 2024
