President’s Message
Well, we had hoped that our August Social provided some heat relief but didn't factor in that the A/C in a multi-story atrium couldn't fully keep up nor did we factor in the acoustics of the space. BUT we are glad that so many of you came and shared in the opportunity to converse and connect with other Club members and to participate in our Town Hall.
From our survey boards and interaction, we learned that our newsletter/emails and website are important sources of information for you. We strive to keep our website fresh and current and send out a monthly newsletter and perhaps one other "breaking news" type email to keep you up to date and not to crowd your inbox. Cyndy Valence has been doing a super job also releasing inviting and informative Social Media posts.
We've got some openings still available on this year's winter trip schedule. We're starting to approach contract milestone dates. Our Club is pretty conservative in our financial risk stance, so we tend to release spots originally planned to avoid contractual penalties. We know that it's hard to wrap your head around winter trips when summer hasn't faded, BUT, we want you to be able to join us, so if you are interested, PLEASE register NOW.
We have just had our initial Travel Committee meeting to plan both adventure and ski/snowboard trips for the May 2027 - April 2028 calendar. Wow, that's a long way off, and also just around the corner! What we've learned from industry sources is that September/October is the sweet spot for requesting availability on resort and lodging properties calendars. We're inputting your responses about places you'd like to travel with the Club into our planning and request for bid process.
France, Switzerland and Italy lead the interest list, followed by Iceland, Alaska, South America, Norway, Oregon, South Africa, Washington, California, Finland, Ireland and Galapagos. We'll see what we can weave into viable trips and then we'll need you all to get on board to support these destinations!

OSTC President
