| | President’s Message As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Orlando Ski and Travel Club, we hope that each of you who have joined in a winter ski/board trip or an adventure trip, or have joined in the fun at Lake Louisa and Wekiva, or made it to one of our Club Socials or other local events have witnessed what gathering with like minded enthusiasts can do to build friendships and explore our world and ourselves. As a year-round Social Club, it is exactly our mission to provide an inviting environment to foster just that. Built around the seven winter trips planned for the 2026-2027, we strive to give you some of the best places and gather some of the best people for you to travel and play with. Don’t miss your opportunity to join in by grabbing the very limited spots still open. And we look forward to seeing you soon at the November Social Mixer and at our Annual Holiday Party! There's something special about escaping the everyday routine, enjoying Florida's natural beauty, and spending time with people who share your love of adventure. Whether reconnecting with longtime friends or making new ones around the bonfire, it's weekends like these that make the Orlando Ski & Travel Club so much more than a travel club. Here's to great adventures, lasting friendships, and another unforgettable Lake Louisa weekend. We're already looking forward to next year! | | | | This month, we’re getting to know Jackie Bowman! Jackie had the chance to meet with fellow member Debbie Ashworth, and here's what Debbie has to say about this spunky member:
"Jackie loves skiing out West and already has her sights set on traveling to Europe with the club next year. A lifelong skier, she took a long break from the sport, but now she’s back on the slopes and having a blast. Skiing and traveling with the club makes her feel like a kid again. She especially enjoys the trips, socials, and events, along with making new friends in such an active, welcoming, like-minded group. She also takes full advantage of the military discounts available to Active Service Members and Veterans.
“I’m back in my element with new friends who feel like I’ve known them forever.”
And for anyone thinking about traveling with the club, Jackie’s advice is simple: “Just do it! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain — especially new friends and plenty of ski bums and bunnies to enjoy the adventure with.” | Q&A
What’s your favorite ski or snowboard destination — and why?
I like skiing out West because the cowboys are cute.
What trip or destination is still on your adventure bucket list?
I am hoping to ski Europe next year with the club. (Hint — please arrange this!)
How did you first get into skiing, snowboarding, or travel adventures?
I've been skiing since I learned to walk, but left the sport for the past 20+ years. I'm excited to be back to my childish games with like-minded friends to "ski-bum" around with.
What’s your favorite part of a club trip: the slopes, the sightseeing, the food, or the friendships?
I'm back in my element with new friends that I feel like I've known forever. I'm here for the slopes, but also enjoy crashing the parties at all the fun socials and events with my snow bunnies and bros.
What’s one travel item you never leave home without?
My Military Veteran ID card so I can get discounts at many patriotic stores and restaurants. Without it, I'd have to prove it, take them to a private area and see if they can find my tattoo, LOL. Just kidding, I think I'm the only U.S. Marine who doesn't have one.
Are you an early chairlift person or more of a relaxed après-ski type?
Send it! SKI, SKI, SKI, then dance all night. Get up early and do it all over again.
What advice would you give to someone joining their first club trip?
Just do it! You have nothing to lose and all to gain as you make new friends with ski bums and bunnies.
Outside of skiing or snowboarding, what other adventure do you love most?
I love taking my elevation below sea level. I'm always looking for a scuba buddy. It's kinda an important role because we keep each other alive if an emergency arises when blowing bubbles with the sea creatures. | | | | | | The Orlando Ski and Travel Club is a year-round, volunteer-run social organization with over 450 adventurous members whose winter activities center on snow skiing and snowboarding, along with great adventure trips that take place throughout the year.
