President’s Message
As we inch towards cooler temperatures and a much anticipated 2026-2027 winter travel season, we need you to jump on the bandwagon or encourage some of your friends to join in on the fun.
We have a few early season trips that still have openings and we are just around the corner from potentially reducing the number of travelers based upon current registrations. Don't miss your chance to visit Palisades, Snowmass, and Steamboat with OSTC! We also have a few select spots for our Taos and Big Sky trips.
When you travel with the Club, you put the Trip Leaders and their Assistants in the driver's seat. You have the opportunity to show up, enjoy yourself, and gain new friends that can egg you on to improve your ski/board skills and share in the memories! The Leaders are handling the travel and lodging details, planning group social times, and generally encouraging everyone to live their best lives!
Want to kick the tires on "traveling" with the Orlando Ski and Travel Club? Join in the fun October 16-18 for the Lake Louisa Cabin Weekend. Make friends close to home and enjoy some outdoor activities and party evenings!

OSTC President

You don’t go on a Bluebird Jackie Adventure Trip to sit quietly in your room wondering whether you’ll have any laughs with friends, conquer a few new challenges, or where your next great meal is coming from. You go because something is always happening. In just eight days, we hiked trails through Arkansas and Missouri, collected National Park Service passport stamps at the Gateway Arch and Buffalo River, got our kicks on Route 66, tried wobble trap shooting, relaxed on Table Rock Lake, and even did a little cliff jumping with the Bearded Boat Captains. We fed wild cats at the National Tiger Sanctuary, faced a few nerves on the tram ride to the top of the Gateway Arch, were wowed by the Shanghai Circus, played like kids at the St. Louis City Museum, and took over the dance floor on a Mississippi River paddleboat. Along the way, we mostly managed to outsmart the heat and insects, figured out exactly when to score free Krispy Kreme donuts, and discovered where to find some pretty memorable margaritas, chocolate cake, Italian food, and milkshakes. And just when we thought the adventure was over, travel had one more surprise for us: a brief, unplanned overnight layover in Philadelphia, giving us one bonus city to add to the trip.

New Club Newsletter Series: Getting To Know Your Members
Get To Know Gunther!
This month, we’re getting to know Gunther Zurstadt, Orlando Ski & Travel Club’s Membership Chair, serves on the Travel Committee, and one of the club’s Trip Leaders. In addition to helping welcome and connect members, Gunther often co-leads trips with past president Steve Clark, helping turn great destinations into memorable club experiences. We’re excited to spotlight him and share a little more about his love of travel, adventure, and the camaraderie that keeps him so involved with the club.
Q&A
• What’s your favorite ski or snowboard destination — and why? Snowmass. It was the first place I ever clicked into skis, it has every kind of terrain you could want, and it just keeps going. If you’re a strong intermediate, Long Shot is the must-do run.
• How did you first get into skiing, snowboarding, or travel adventures? When I was twelve, I watched my grandad ski down a hill in Switzerland, and that was it, I had to go snow skiing with him. I learned to ski at Snowmass in 1999, then finally checked the box by skiing with grandad in 2005 and 2006.
• What’s the most memorable adventure you’ve had so far? The Club’s adventure trips to New Zealand and Argentina were easily the most memorable, with New Zealand winning a very close tiebreaker. Who’s ready for a redo?
• Are you an early chairlift person or more of a relaxed après-ski type? Both! First chair, last chair, then tasty beverages and good camaraderie at après. I used to ski every single day of a trip, but now I take one day off to wander the town and actually relax.
• What advice would you give to someone joining their first club trip? Hit the Club socials and meet the people heading on the same trip. Don’t skip the pre or post trip parties. Most importantly, show up to every après with the Club. That’s how you walk away with friendships that stick.
