| | | | | | President's Message Happy New Year to all Orlando Ski and Adventure Travel Club members! Our first ski trip of this season was a huge success as we experienced the most snowfall over a 3-day period in Sun Valley, Idaho that locals ever remember. The whole town and lodge were decorated for the holidays and it was simply a Snowy Christmas Wonderland! On Wednesday, December 14th, we held our annual Christmas Event at the Winter Park Hilton Garden Inn. Thank you Robin for your efforts along with other volunteers that helped working the door, donations and decorating/cleanup! It was an absolute blast! Elvis Santa helped us raise more than $2,000 that we have donated to Toys for Tots on your behalf. I noticed many new faces in the room along with longtime friends. Dale and Rhonda even borrowed Santa’s sled to fly in from Colorado and enjoy the festivities. It was the most well-attended event we’ve held as a club in recent years. Over 140 people celebrated the holiday together. Thank you, again, to those members who invited their friends and neighbors to check out our club at the Christmas Party! Your next opportunity to invite people who you think will enjoy our activities, and possibly our trips, will be at the January 2023 monthly social on Wednesday January 18th at 6pm. This social will be held in Maitland just off I-4 at An Tobar Irish Pub. Both January and February Socials will be held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month rather than our usual 2nd Wednesday. There's nothing quite like An Tobar, an authentic Irish pub located in the Sheraton Orlando North Hotel. In fact, you'd have to go to Ireland to find one just like it. And that's exactly what the hotel did. Every single piece of An Tobar, including its 60-foot bar, booths, and tables, was constructed out of solid wood in Ireland, shipped over, and lovingly installed by a team of craftsmen. Enjoy traditional pub fare and Guinness on tap at An Tobar, the largest Irish pub in Central Florida. Park inside the gate closest to An Tobar, your parking will be validated in the bar. Due to rising costs of goods and services, your Board of Directors voted on this increase so that we can continue to provide an enhanced experience at our Socials, Parties, and Events for our Members which is our highest priority. New rates will affect the upcoming June 1st 2023 renewals (our annual renewal date). Since Club membership is required to take a trip with us next year, potential new members who think they wish to go on a late 2023-2024 trip with the club, or to the October Lake Louisa Cabin Event next year, have the ability to sign up for Club membership prior to January 15th, 2023 at the current membership rate. Your membership will be good through through 6/1/2024 if you don't take a trip with us during this current 2023 ski season. *Family membership consists of a married couple, an unmarried couple living at the same address, domestic partners and children of these adults.
