Hello Member | | | PRESIDENTS MESSAGE Can you believe it is already March and spring is a few weeks away! Don’t forget to turn your clocks forward an hour on March 8th. Time is flying by and it always seems to go faster during ski season. The Breckenridge and Zermatt ski trips depart in March and will be the last of the OSTC ski trips for this season. But wait, want a sneak preview of next season’s trips? Your Board is planning an exciting event at Wekiva Island. Enjoy a barbeque lunch, swimming, kayaking, canoeing and socializing with OSTC friends. Bring a friend or co-worker to sign-up as a new member and get a $25.00 discount off your next trip. The best part of the event - you will be the first to learn the details of next season’s OSTC trip line up! So, save the date - Sunday, May 3 from 9:00 – 2:00. More information to come via OSTC Website and Email. In just two short months, we will be holding elections. Speaking of elections, the club is always looking for members to become engaged in the Club’s behind the scenes operations. If you want to be a future leader of OSTC or just want to volunteer time to share your ideas and talents, there is a seat for you at the table! The personal benefits of helping the club plan local events, contributing to marketing or financial planning ideas, and helping the club grow can be very gratifying. Just send me an email or fill out an interest form online. Don’t forget the next OSTC Social is March 11th, at Miller’s Ale House in Winter Park. After years of moving, my family settled in DeLand. I attended Daytona Beach Community College (aka Daytona Beach State College) to secure a profession in nursing, with an “Operating Room Technician” certification. Later I moved to Indianapolis to work as a private surgery nurse, and attending Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis for further studies. I received certification as a CPR instructor as well, while in Indianapolis. I worked as a surgery nurse for 17 years, before returning to DeLand, getting married, and switching professions to Real Estate. Serving as a Florida realtor for 27 years, I opened my real estate brokerage in 2015, and presently serving on the “Professional Standards Committee” for the West Volusia Association of Realtors. Having a passion for horses, I was blessed with my first horse at the age of 11. As an equestrian, I experienced the joys of several facets of riding. After a 30 year hiatus, I am back in the saddle again, having volunteered Saturday mornings helping children with special needs participate in “Equine Therapy”. I also volunteer for transport for the Dalmatian Rescue of Tampa Bay, as Dalmatians hold a special place in my heart. At the age of 61, I learned to snow ski. Having enjoyed several ski trips with OSTC, my ski motto is “low and slow”, as a professed “green slope only” skier. I have enjoyed getting to know the members of the club, forming friendships that I truly cherish. I presently serve as “Program Director” for Orlando Ski and Travel Club, a position truly enjoyed. | | | MONTHLY EVENTSJoin your Orlando Ski & Travel Club friends at the following events.
