President's Message

Hot digity damn....OSC really hit the jackpot with snow conditions this season! We have four trips completed, Banff is currently underway (freezing), Japan starts in a few days & Big Sky wraps up the season mid-March. Some of us have been home only long enough to wash our ski clothes & repack!

Can you believe planning has already  begun for 2017-18 ski/board season??? The confirmed destinations at this time are early December long weekend trip to kick off the holiday spirit at Vail, followed by FSC January trip to Steamboat Springs and FSC International trip to Spain in early March.

Another BIG trip to watch for is in October or November 2018, FSC will be going to New Zealand for an Adventure (non-ski) trip!

Additional trip announcements, dates & pricing details will be coming in May.

Not to worry....OSC doesn't take time off, we have FOUR adventure travel trips planned for summer & fall! Trips are selling fast, go to OSC website to sign up NOW!

Also watch OSC website & Meet-up for local activities announcements. OSC had a private box at Amway for Solar Bears game & in April we're going to an Orlando City Soccer game. Also for something really unique, we having an upcoming Paint with Wine night! And,  yoga & monthly pickle ball continues!

See everyone at the March 8th social at WP Ale House! I'll finally be in town!

OSC Trip to Telluride
by Dale Ulmer, Trip Leader & Rhonda Ulmer, Co-Trip Leader

OSC went back to Telluride and Mountain Lodge Feb. 4-11th--and it was a big enthusiastic group of skiers!  Aloha, we even had 61 participants coming in from Alaska to Hawaii to join us! In summary there was great skiing, the historic town of Telluride, the new Mountain Village, the plane turnaround for one group,  welcome party, 3 apres-ski parties with food and prizes, a super Super Bowl party, a Good/Bad/Ugly Ski Outfit Contest, hot tub time machine parties, shopping galore, the Amazing Ski Race, and (whew!) the winners and trophies presentation at the Friday evening Apres-Ski event!!!

Most had too much beer or drinks from Rhonda to remember all of the Award winners, but I do recall a few which I will honorably mention:  "Good" Ski Outfit--Jeannie Meyers, "Bad" Ski Outfit--Charlie's Devils, "Ugly" Ski Outfit--Dave Pels, 3rd Place Amazing Race--Linda Johnson, Miss Congeniality--Charlie Landers, Best Use of Hot Tub Award--Dennis Davis, Best Snowmobiler Award--Kara Weese, Best Skier Award--Cyndy Valence, 2nd place Amazing Ski Race--Relay for Life, and 1st place (drum roll...) the Mad Ski Dogs.  The Ski Dogs weren't perfect but still won, 24-23.  Relay for Life even had the very close and the fastest team again has never won in the history of this race!  I guess it's better the be a turtle than the hare!!!  Bottom line, all had a great time--I remembered that much.

I am editing this issue of the OSC newsletter from my motor home parked in the desert of Nevada . I pulled my step-son 's off road car out here to run in the Mint 400 race.
