This Month's Orlando Ski Club's Newsletter
President's Message

Hello Fellow Skiers,

I hope you had a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving! It is hard to believe that Christmas will soon be here. With a hearty “Ho” “Ho” “Ho”, I feel the Club has already received numerous presents this year! First, OSC Ski Trips have had tremendous sales this fall. Our first ski trip will be leaving this coming December 10th to Vail, Colorado, headed by that Jolly (and mischievous) Christmas Goblin, Steve Clark. If this ski trip is anything like Steve’s last year’s trip to Aspen ( and all those who were with us can attest), I am sure Steve will bring out his bag goodies and activities for all his merry participants. Be assured, it won’t be sugarplums dancing in their heads.

Although almost all of our ski trips are sold out, I have been told that the Mt. Bachelor Ski Trip still has lodging available, however there is no remaining but group air. The club can still assist you in going on this trip. Please contact our spry Trip Leader, Shelley Daniel, 321/262-3694, Shelley will surely sprang to get you set-up. Also, there has been a recent cancellation (2 person) on the Snowmass Ski Trip. Please contact our Terri-Lynn “Mistletoe” Smith, 407/739-0440,

Soon, we all will be seeing the moon glistening on new-fallen snow. Before we do, we have presents to give to those who are less fortunate than us. This month’s meeting is the Club’s Annual “Toy for Tots” Event. Please bring a toy to Dubsdread Golf Course on December 9th, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. If you do not bring a gift, the Club will ask for a Christmas donation of $10.00 per person. In the past, I have seen our Club members’ eyes all a glow, upon seeing the sacks full of presents from their generous friends. So, go out and get those presents! The Marines will be there to warmly welcome you this glorious night.

Winter Club Ski is “giving” any OSC member a 10% discount for ski lessons. The Club members just need to log in to the OSC website to get the Promotional Code for this discount. The Club is also planning to do the January Social at Winter Club Ski. More on this in the January newsletter.

Please note there are still open spots for the tickets for the Broadway Show – Kinky Boots. February 28, 2016

The Club is starting to develop a relationships with other clubs, for future mutual benefits. Our first “sister” club is the Orlando Runner’s Club (ORC). There are a few OSC members who are also ORC members, such as Steve Clark. They are looking for volunteers to help them staff a water stop. The event is this Saturday, December 5, 2015, 6:30 am - 9:30 am, Half Marathon Water Stop #1 (near E. Central Ave and Shine Ave). Minimum volunteer age is 13.   Every volunteer receives a t-shirt, snack and the chance to be part of a rewarding community event that showcases Orlando to runners and walkers from around the country and around the world! Then after your volunteer shift is over, head on over to Lake Eola and enjoy the post-race festivities (Free Beer).  To volunteer or to request more information, please email Geanette at I volunteered last year and a nice time. If you are not doing anything, come out and volunteer. The ORC is really a good group of people.

Now Dash Away! Dash Away! Dash Away All, to the OSC’s “Toys for Tots” meeting at Dubsdread, December 9th.

 Until then,

Wishing You Many Happy Dreams of Gently Falling Snowflakes, and Groomed Slopes with Christmas Lights!

Bob “Snow Dog” Mackey,    President Orlando Ski Club
