October 2015
Message from our President

Hello Fellow Skiers,

After a successful Club Ski Trip Kick-off Meeting in August and September’s Social Event at Miller’s Ale House, the Orlando Ski Club is back at Dubsdread Golf Course for the October 14th (Wednesday) Ski Trip Sale Meeting. All the ski trips are filling up fast. The Club has also had to get extra airline tickets and lodging for a few ski trips, such as Vail and Snowmass. I would expect that we will be soon seeing the “SOLD OUT” stamp on several ski trips really soon.

In October, there will be an opportunity to win 1 of 4 $100.00 Ski Trip Credits. Also, your (sometimes spaced out) President found a few donated items to give out as door prizes. I hope to see you there! For those who already signed up for a ski trip, please do not go into hiding. At the October meeting, you will get to meet some of your fellow trip participants. You obtain some comfort from each other, knowing it will be so many months before we can finally go skiing.

We skiers are not known for standing still. We are always looking for something new to do. Be it a new ski trial or path not yet discovered. Such is the attitude of our 2nd VP of Year Round Activities, Rhonda Ulmer. So far, the Club has two “non-ski” events planned. First, a few Club members are going to Truffles and Trifles, Thursday, November 12th, to try to do some gourmet cooking. Your Snow Dog is going to give it a try. However, I must admit the Dog is more of gourmand, than a gourmet cook. (FYI, a gourmand is someone who can only cook thing that is spelled with 3 letters, like, hen, cow and p-i-g “hog”.) With luck, the Snow Dog might be able to fix something “edible.” If not, the Dog is willing to eat your table scraps.

Next, a few of your fellow Club members are going to the Broadway play, “Kinky Boots”.  We usually get together for lunch before or dinner after. As one of those who have been to each of these Club Broadway Events, this is always a great time. However, the Snow Dog needs to look up the story behind this play. Kinky Boots? What a title! It must be a play about a “wild shopping event” by some wicked ladies! (Who at least one of them the Dog needs to meet;-b.) How about joining us for this event? You can help me figure out the meaning to this title!

If you have a recommendation for other activities, please contact the Clubs’ 2nd VP, Rhonda at .

I will keep this newsletter short. Hope to see each of you at the October Sales Meeting.

Until then,

Wishing You Many Happy Dreams of Gently Falling Snowflakes, and Groomed Slopes!

Bob “Snow Dog” Mackey
