President's Message

Hello Fellow Skiers, here are a few Club members who were unable to make the August 23rd, OSC Trip Kick-off Meeting at Dubsdread. Although I did not do a head count at the meeting, it appears “only a few of you” missed the meeting. It was one of the most successful Trip Kick-off Meetings the Club has had in years. It is always good to see so many ski friends having fun and getting excited about going skiing, especially after this hot summer. Attending also at the meeting were the usually Ski Bums and Dirt Bags wannabes, telling their many ski and après stories from past ski trips. You know who you are! (Moose, Jake, Mikee, etc.) (Oh! And wannabes Steve and Gunther).

What was really exciting to see at the meeting was all the new faces. They found the Club through a friend, through Facebook, through Meet-up, or just by doing a search online for ski clubs. Most of them had focus on a particular ski trip to sign-up for the upcoming ski season. There were a few who had difficulty making up their mind on which trip to go on. Then there were a few us (me included) who wished we could go on more than one of the awesome Club ski trips.

I want state a heartfelt “Thank you” to all the volunteers for this event. Thank you, Betsy Miller, and all your volunteers who helped out at the registration table. Thank you to all the Trip Leaders, Steve, Debbie, Terri-Lynn, Shelly, Kathryn and Mindy, for putting in all the pre-meeting hard work, which got everyone excited about your trips. Thank you to Sandy (and a few others) who worked the computer table. Thank you to Peter Glenn for all the donated “swag” (a.k.a. ski stuff) for the raffle, and for their donations of a trip credit and backpack. Thank you to the OSC Board members who roam the room answering questions. Finally, a BIG THANK YOU to the Club’s 1st VP of Trip Kathryn Hardage, whose large and detailed work efforts are too numerous to detail here.

The Club’s 2nd VP of Year Round Activities, Rhonda Ulmer, was roaming the meeting asking people what non-ski activities the members would like to do this next year. Rhonda received numerous suggestions. If you have a recommendation, please contact Rhonda at .

In September, the Club will be doing a Social at Miller’s Ale House, Winter Park Village (corner of Lee Rd. and 17/92), Wednesday, September 9th, 6-8pm. I hope you can attend this gathering of friends, new and old. In October, the Club will be going back to Dubsdread for the October Trip Sales meeting, with an opportunity to win 1 of 4 $100.00 Ski Trip Credits.

Until then,

Wishing You Many Happy Dreams of Gently Falling Snowflakes and Groomed Slopes...

Bob Mackey, President (a/k/a Snow Dog)
